Friends Be Falling

When I heard the news that Shoshanna’s Cancer had returned,

I cried so hard the Channukah Candles Blew Out.

I was there when it had appeared, bringing over meals like a dozen of her friends.

When it comes to Meal Train (a service to get your friends to feed you), couples have kids, and single people have illnesses.

Sho tried to convince me a year ago to use the service when I was trapped in my Oakland Hills apartment after I had fractured my ankle. The surgery wouldn’t be for 11 days, the surgeon was on vacation. Note: don’t break a bone over the holidays.

One of the most joyous days I have ever experienced was an event she threw, for herself.

It was when the Cancer had gone into remission.

20 of us gathered at Snow Lake, on a sunny Oakland day.

We were trying to figure out what to do as a ritual,

it turned into a dance party, and her playlist was unnfadable.

Shoshana’s taste leans heavily toward the African-American genres.

She is more current then me, on who is big in neo-soul and pop.

The party had every type of person, young Black women, middle-aged Jewish guys, and me.

In her time in Oakland, Shoshanna could have definitely done the job of Matchmaker, or Yenta.

She was a connecter, she was a person with a large Rolodex and loved to bring people of all shades together.

In the 15 years that she lived in Oakland, she had mare sex, than 3 white gurls from Berkeley combined.

She had guys on demand. She had trainers, She had strainers, She had men. and she was VERY selective.

I’m sorry her cancer, has returned, and I know she reads these emails, even when in the hospital.

As a Tribute-

I am attaching a piece of audio called “NanaMix” about a CD that was in the Car I drive, which was shipped from Lancaster, PA after my grandparents passed on.

Love you Sho,

Your Whorish ways are an Inspiration to us all,

Joshua
