Ayeee Papi - It’s Leap Day. That means if you were born today you only celebrate your actual birthday every 4 years. I presume most people born on Feb. 29th, celebrate on Feb. 28th to keep the annual cake coming.
Recently I took a workshop and pitched myself as a potential facilitator. I have about 10 years of experience with facilitating groups around mental health and creativity. In pitching my workshop ideas I had to think about what I wanted to teach, and what kind of “skill share” I would want to facilitate.
Below is what I came up with, with a few fun video examples. Feel free to chime in or take this LinkedIn survey on what you would want to see me do.
In pitching these workshops I slotted one in for next week, 3/5 - A Zoom(ba) to dance to in your living room or place of laptop connection. With interest, there will be more!
1 Breath, Beats & Balance.
You are exploring breathwork as a meditative and musical practice, through yogic breathing and beatboxing (the art of vocal percussion). Use your vocal instrument to balance your creative life through music and meditation.
2. Your Artistic Practice as a Business
Doing what you love is an essential part of happiness. If you're an artist you may need help building a sustainable business practice around your art or finding art-adjacent work. If the passion is there, the money will come.
3. Unplug: Disconnecting from our Digital Devices to Prevent Burnout
Work-life balance is more crucial than ever in our current work-from-home world. When working remotely, or hybrid you must have clear boundaries regarding what is “work” and when you are unavailable. Taking a day of the week, or a specific time of day to Unplug for the digital can be a way to sustain your longevity and remember what’s important
This Workshop is being given next Tuesday, March 5th with Holistic Systems Cooperative:
4. Professional Presentation: Learn from a TED Speaker and NPR Storyteller
Need to make a presentation? Want to tell your story as a personal narrative or become a public speaker? First understand the basics of theater: how to use your instrument to its fullest potential. Learn the physical and psychological warm-ups that will prepare you to have confidence in finding your voice on stage
You may have a group interested in one of these other presentations or learning them one-on-one in a private call. All things are possible as I ease back on this recliner and type to you from Moss Beach. I’m still in recovery from my Ankle, but my voice is still in good shape.
Connect when you feel the need.
All My blessings to you-
Joshua
