I am a brand loyalist,
In the beginning, I had Nike, the god of Victory.
Cunha - Half Moon Bay
The Middle School that made me a nightmare.
I started as a baller, a shot caller,
A tall skinny kid that wanted to slam.
There was only one other kid as tall as me
He was Mormon
I was Jewish.
We had this discussion on the courts of Cunha Middle School.
Discussing being different.
I thought all Christians were the same,
But I was wrong.
There was this other guy,
Mr. Cox.
A tall skinny, white guy with a big nose.
He taught Sex ED and History.
He told us annal wasn’t that great,
After Illana asked about a male orgazum-
He did this thing in History Class,
It was a slave reenactment,
We got under the desks,
The teachers had whips.
They gently slapped the desks and told us we were on a slave ship,
I guess it wasn’t so bad.
We were just little pre-teens, we didn’t know what slavery was.
About 30 percent of the town was Mexican.
About 5 of us were Jewish.
One black kid, John Parsons, who went on to play basketball.
His dad was this Irish Guy who married a beautiful black woman with braids
His wife was stunning,
I remember when she picked up John.
DAMN.
I thought,
I want to be that white guy that bags the African Queen.
Who’s son is the best baller in Town
In the dating field, I still don’t know how to be anything then a Magnet for BLACK.
Before Curry there was John.
A long time ago,
In a pumpkin patch
Full of Weirdoes.
Thanks for sharing your reflections, you made me smile.
